I have been puzzled for some time about a Joseph Clingan who operated a newspaper in Wooster Ohio in 1820. He was born 2-29-1789 near Greensburg, Westmoreland County PA. In 1824, he married a lady named Clarrisa
Lawrence of Wooster.
In 1832 they had a daughter named Jane and in 1834 a son named Edward. They had two other children whose names are Zillah and Thomas but I have no date on these two. Clarrisa died 11-28-1836
Joseph quit the newapaper business in 1840. In 1855, Jane died never having married. He moved to Mount Vernon Ohio where he was associated with the college in that town
On 6-25,1868 Edwrd married Lovina "Vinnie" Ewing in Wooster Ohio. They had two children: Cora b.Oct.6,1869;Joseph E. b.

Joseph Clingan died Aug. 26,1873 at Zillah's home.
This solves one problem for us, but brings another: What Clingans were in Westmoreland in 1789? Happy Hunting!!
