Version 1/28/98 I am searching for information about the ancestors and descendants of Daniel Wilson CLINE, my maternal grandfather. Daniel was born in Macon, Mississippi, March 5, 1860.

It is believed, but not verified, that Daniel is the son of Moses and Nancy CLINE of Noxubee County Mississippi. The 1860 census shows that Moses ,49, was a carriage maker. Nancy ,37, was born in Alabama. In 1860 they had six sons. They were: Charles - 11; John -12; Edgar -9; David -7; unknown - 4; [Daniel] - 2 months. It is believed that the 2 months old son is Daniel Wilson. All of the sons are listed as being born in Mississippi..

Daniel Wilson moved by an unknown route to Washington County, Texas, at an unknown date. It is believed that Daniel married twice. The date and location of the first marriage to "Katie" is unknown. It is believed that Katie's maiden name was MEGUIRE. There may have been a son born of the first marriage to "Katie A." named Walter.

Daniel remarried on January 20, 1885 to Sadie Ophelia "Sallie" BLYTHE in Brenham, Texas. Children of this marriage were: Mattie, Ruth Ophelia, Fred Marion, Roland, Lee, Clarence "Chauncie" C. and Maud Marie, my mother. In Brenham the family, specifically Sallie, is known to have been a member of The First Baptist Church. Daniel's family may have moved to Burleson County in the late 1800's where Sallie may have been [speculation] a member of the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church. Sallie was restored as a member of the First Baptist Church in March 1890. Daniel is known to have worked in the Spindletop oil field in the early 1900's while the family remained in Brenham. The family moved from Brenham to Dallas by wagon in the early 1900's after the Galveston 1900 hurricane blew the top of their house off.

Other surnames acquired by marriage of Daniel's and Sallie's daughters are: PATRICK, STEVENSON and LOHMAN. Sallie and Daniel died in Dallas, Texas on January 7, 1931 and February 18, 1943 respectively. Both are buried in Dallas. If you have any questions or information please contact John Lohman in San Antonio, Texas. jlohman@txdirect.net THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
