I'm doing some research for a friend. She has a Nancy Ellander (Ellen) Cline as her Great Grandmother. Ellen married John VanBuren Lyons. They moved to Oregon where they both died. Ellen was reported to be b abt 1838 in Macon Co. MO. I'm curious about the name Ellander. Ellen gave it as a middle name to one of her sons also. Do you know what the name indicates? I'm also aware that Nancy is also a nickname and could be used instead of Mary or others. I think with her using Ellen though that this is not the case with her.
