Re Cline's in Scotland. Maybe Scottish - but don't overlook the fact of the great Palatine migration from Germany in 1709/10. They came by thousands. England settled as many as possible in England, Scotland and Ireland and the rest she sent in about 7 ships to the Hudson River Settlement to make tar for the British Ships. The pine trees were the wrong sort for making tar, and the Germans scattered - some to the Schoharie River area, thence to the Mohawk River, and also the Tulpehocken area in (now) Berks Co. PA. The name has been spelled a million ways. Good luck.
