Shirley,
In my research, I found reference to a John Cline who came into the area of Jeffersonville Kentucky and Indiana with A. VanMeter to do the origianal surveys of the area. This information can be found in a book about these Cline's at the Filson Club in Louisville. I don't have the name of the book but it is the only one listed in the Cline card index. I also read an artical last week, indicating that a Cline was in the area with Squire Boone. Should you be able to connect your John back to Nicholas Cline of Wythe County Virginia, you may want to search a book by Canfield named Notes on the Two Kreger Families. This is the line that I am following.
