I was able to get a copy of Davis Sr's and Rebecca Phillips original marriage bond at the library in Forsyth Co. Its on microfilm there. The actual date is 8/31/1839. All the book references and even the LDS database have it as 1832. Apparently someone misread the 9 for a 2 when transcribing. I think you'll find 1839 fits perfectly with his and Rebecca's birth dates and the date of birth for their first child.
