Hello Chris,

I don't have the absolute answer, but it is quite possible that at some time down the line there was probably a female with the maiden name of Grey or Gray and it got put in as a middle name for a male child and it was used in the family.

I can tell you that there are Grey's or Gray's in Stewart and Houston Counties. I live about 1/2 mile from an 4-way stop in Tennessee Ridge that is called "Gray's Crossing".
