I have a Fanny Clifton married to Isaac Vail 15 Aug 1797.Somewhere I have that this marriage occurred in Darke County, Ohio. However, their son, Moses, was born 10 Feb 1807 in Cincinnati. The Vail family migrated from Westchester, NY to Somerset County, New Jersey before settling in the Ohio Country.Isaac's uncle, Stephen Vail, layed out the platt for Middletown, Ohio in Butler County. The Vail branch that came to Ohio from New Jersey were Quakers and can be found in the Friend records in Warren County.I am not aware of any Quaker connection for Isaac and Fanny (Clifton) Vail.
Based on census records, I show Fanny was born between 1775 and 1780.She died sometime between 1840 and 1850 in Greenville Township, Darke County, Ohio.I know from family records that Isaac was born in New Jeresy on 17 Jul 1777.There children were:Moses, Elizabeth, Nathan, William, Rebecca, Desiah, Huldah and Pamelia.
It looks as though Fanny may be a daughter of your Daniel Clifton, though I would have felt more secure if one of the children were named Daniel or Deborah
Any thoughts? Were there other Clifton families in Hamilton County during this period?
