I'm looking for relations of John Stewart Clift, born c. 1920. He was a sailor during WWII and listed his hometown as Wichita, KS. He was aboard the submarine USS Grunion when she disappeared on her maiden voyage in the Aleutians in July 1942.

The submarine's loss was reported in newspapers in late September and early October 1942, but the Department of the Navy did not declare the lost sailors dead until Aug 2, 1943.

The submarine was found this summer by a team that included the sons of the Grunion's captain. Volunteers are looking for others related to the sailors who died; any leads are appreciated.

More information on the search for the Grunion is available at http://www.ussgrunion.com/
