Thanks for placing this query on the Clift page. I am descended from Hensley Clift (b. 1797 in Mason County, KY), son of Benjamin Clift. We have never been able to tie Benjamin to the earlier Clifts, although we suspect that he was the son of Joseph Clift. There has been a great controversy about this.

Let me know if you can shed some light.
