I came across this information in a letter written by Mary Bell Clift Cox (daughter of William Stout Clift) 8 Aug 1924 (numbers in parenthesis are generation numbers):
(1)Richard Stout = Penelope Prince
(2) Johnathan Stout = Anne Bollen
(3) Johnathan Stout (Jr.) = Mary Lee
(4) David Stout = Sarah Park (parents of (5)Elizabeth Stout (Grandmother Clift)
(4) Sarah Stout - sister of David and Aunt of Elizabeth Stout Clift married Moses Morgan and had daughter (5)Sarah who married Squire Boone and had son Daniel. So Daniel Boone's mother Sarah Morgan Boone was niece of David Stout and first cousin of Elizabeth Stout Clift.
In another letter of Mary Bell's she relates the story of Penelope Stout. She writes, "Grandmother clift - Many times she told of Penelope being 'killed' and come to life again and how her head was cut - bowels protruded and she left for dead and how a good Indian rescued her." This attack apparently happened in New Jersey. They moved from Hopewell, New Jersey to Mason Co., KY.
