Jane - You say you are from the line of Nelson and his second wife Elizabeth Stout - are you descended from William Stout Clift? I've been going through papers that my dad brought me this week and found the "Memorial Addresses of William Stout Clift" delivered at First Baptist Church, Terre Haute, Ind. April 22, 1888. This was a memorial booklet handed out at his funeral. If you don't have this - I will try to scan it and send it to you. I am having computer problems right now - so it will take some time. William Clift's daughter Belle Cox (Mary Belle Clift Cox) corresponded regularly with my great grandfather, Thomas A. Lawes and I have many letters of hers. They were cousins of sorts. Thomas A. Lawes' aunt, Frances Lawes, was married to Samuel Clift who was the youngest brother of William Stout Clift. Belle Cox was first cousins of the three children of Frances and Samuel Clift. And Thomas A. Lawes was first cousins with them as well.
Belle Cox wrote of the connection of her family to Daniel Boone. She also had quite a bit of information on the Summers family which I have, if you need it.
