The 1901 census shows a Herbert Clift aged 23 years, a tailor living in West Bromwich, now West Midlands. He was my great uncle born in 1877 in Newport, Shropshire. I have been trying to trace the member of the Clift family from Newport that started off the Clift family in that part of Staffs/West Midlands and he seems to be the one. If there are any Clifts who are connected to this side of the family either direct or by marriage I would be very pleased if you would contact me.
