Thomas Clift

I am searching for information about my mother's Clift family. She was Winnifred Pearl Clift, born 8 Aug. 1898, in London, Ontario, Canada. Her father was Thomas Clift (no middle name), born 15 Aug., 1877, in Rochester SubDis., Chatham, Kent, England; his wife was Eliza Eggett, born 1880, London, Ontario. My Grandfather Clift's father was also a Thomas Clift, born 26 May, 1851, Gibraltar Place, Gillingham Dist., Eng., and his wife was Annie Lucy Rudland, born 1853 "in England". It was this Thomas Clift who immigrated to Canada with his wife and children. Their first child, George Thomas, died the same year as his birth. A daughter was born to them in 1874, and died in 1884. Their third child, Lily Annie Clift, was born in Chatham, Ont. in 1875. Her parents returned with their children to England, and my Grandfather Thomas Clift was born in Chatham, Kent, England. The family then returned to Canada, settling and remaining in London, Ont. Two other sons, Charles and Frank, were born in London, Ont.

I am in correspondence with another Clift descendent, who is searching for info about a Joseph Clift, who came from Wiltshire, England and lived from 1856 to 1862 in Delaware, Ontario, which is very near London, Ontario. Joseph became the father of a large family. He moved with his wife, "Miefs", and his children to Oregon, U.S.A., and the family remained in the western States.

We wonder if there is some family link between Thomas Clift and Joseph Clift. Can anyone out there can shed some light? ANY INFORMATION on these Thomas Clifts OR on Joseph Clift would be appreciated.
Mary Steele
