I believe the Frances Lawes that married into the Clift family was the sister of William W. Lawes (my great great grandfather) and Thomas Owen Lawes. I have a letter from William, written to Thomas when William and Jane Brazelton Lawes lived in Louisiana, dated August 1853 and he mentions getting letters from home saying that Francis was getting better. Apparently she had been ill. He also mentions sending money home to Ellen. I believe that Ellen would be another sister, Ellen Lawes, that married into the Quinn family. Can you verify any of this information?
