I have Frances W. Lawes m. Samuel Dobbyns Clift in Vigo Co. IN Sept. 25, 1855.
Samuel D. Clift's f. was Nelson Clift of Mason Co. KY. Samuel's m. was Nelson's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Stout. After Nelson d. 1851 in KY, Elizabeth Stout Hook Clift moved to Terra Haute, IN, joining some of her children. She d. 1879 in Indianapolis & is bur. at the Mt. Pleasant Ch. in Marion Co. IN.
Elizabeth's eldest son William Stout Clift, founded a planing mill, & d. 1888 in Terre Haute (he was b. 5 mos. after Nelson m. Eliz. & inherited $1 from Nelson Clift, who referred to him as his last wife's son).
Samuel D. Clift's brother, Mason Clift, d. 1885 Terre Haute, Vigo Co. IN. Another brother, Walter Warder Clift, d. May 1897 in Terre Haute, IN.
