Sharon... This is just all too unusual...I believe we are on to some real genealogy here. Until the 1880's my grandfather and siblings spelled their last name Cliffe. My grandfather had three sisters... (1)Mary Jane depending on what census is used she was sometimes referred to as Jennie b.12/29/1849. Landsdowne Can. She died in 1921. She first married a Sandford Merrill but he soon dies. She then married Louis Carpenter 1887, They lived in Colorado and are buried in Lake Orion, Michigan. (2) Kate or Katherine (maybe with a "C")..b. 1852 died young late teens early 20's. (3) Agnes M. b.1856 Clinton County Michigan. She married a Demous Knickerbocker 12/29/1870. She died in Illinois 1940. My grandfather father (John) married Elizabeth Cochrain 12/4/1848.Elizabeth came with 10 siblings and their widowed mother (Mary) from Ireland and may have immigrated to Canada. Mary Cochrain is buried in Jackson MI. John Cliffe dies about 1855 and Elizabeth married a John Wilson and moves to Muskegon County, Michigan All census including Samuel,Agnes, Kate, Mary Jane Cliffe have their father and mother born in Ireland. Could your source have some people and dates "mixed up" All these names that correspond to one another is more than unusual, don't you think??? AGAIN...Many Thanks....Sam Notify Administrator about this message?
