No. Carolina] Brunswick Co]. In the name of God, Amen! I, George Clewis being in a low state of health, but of sound mind & memory has said before God, it being calling to mind the mortality of the body, that it is appointed for all persons only to death – do make this my last Will & Testament in manner anf form following, that is to say, after all my just debts are paid, then I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sabra Benton I give one cow Little and a horse called Red Bird, and the lumber cart, also her son George Benton Thirty acres of land lying on the East side of Cow Branch. I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel, a hundred & twenty acres of land lying on the East side of Crow Swamp three cows and one four year old steer, Mulbre, Butte & Smoke, and the hand mill, hand saw, Jointer, augers, chisles, coused (sic) shave & the Matress that I lye on, and compasses & spinning wheel and a pair of cart wheels & all my wearing apparel & a broad ax. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sevill the plantation I now live on of Ninety acres of land lying on the West side of Crow Swamp & twenty head of cattle, and a three old steer, pitch ax, yelow (sic) horse, ox chain and prow (sic), grubbing hoe, house hold furniture, two beds & furniture and kitchen furniture, the crop & all the hogs that is in my mark, mark and all, one half the value of the mare & one crow wedge. I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Outlaw, one cow & six young cattle & a hunting saddle. I do nominate & appoint Needham Gause, Senr. Executor to my last Will & Testament, revoking all other wills I do acknowledge this to be my last will and testament which where-unto I set my hand & seal this 23rd day of November, 1815. In the presence of Bryant Gause, Sam’l Clewis. George Clewis (seal) Brunswick County Court, Jan’y Term, 1816. The execution of this Will was proved in open Court by Bryant Gause one of the subscribing witnesses & was ordered to be registered – Recorded 18th March 1816. John J.
