I purchased in San Carlos, CA, the subject undated studio portrait of a young girl taken by New York Gallery, Reading PA. It is identified on the back of the mount:
"Jennie Clewell
Reading Pa"
This individual appears in a Public Member Tree posted on ancestry.com. She is listed in the 1900 Census data for Reading (resided at 1203 Green Street), Berks Co., PA. Born 5 Jan 1888 in PA, she was the daughter of a railroad shops painter, Leander Henry Clewell, born 27 Feb 1858 in PA, died 1 Apr 1929 in Allentown, PA, and Elenora Maria Cope, born about 1865 in PA. In 1907, Jennie applied for a marriage license in Berks Co., PA, and she did so again on 9 Sep 1914, although I haven't found any marriage record. A 1914 Reading city directory lists her occupation as knitter and residing with her parents at 1140 Robeson. Jennie had an older brother, Verlerius Leander Clewell, born 1 Mar 1884 in PA, died Feb 1970, and in his WWII draft registration card, he gave as a contact a Jennie Clewell, 1143 Birch St., Reading, PA. I haven't learned when or where she died.
