I am descended through Josiah Cleveland. Recently I located my great aunt’s daughter in NY state. She found several letters from Cleveland family members and she sent them to me to photocopy.
In these papers I found a postcard from H.G. Cleveland 74 Hamilton St.; Cleveland Ohio. It is dated Feb. 17, 1884 and was addressed to my relative Albert Luther Cleveland:
Dear Sir,
Have you corresponded with E. J. Cleveland of Elizabeth N.J. at all?
Don’t put off doing so, for he is trying to complete the Cleveland family Genealogy—Send him copy of your family records & complete,
Yours truly
H. G. Cleveland
It was addressed to A. L. Cleveland
Randolph, NY
With a 1 cent postage stamp.
This form of gathering family information makes me question the accuracy of the book, "The Cleveland Chronicles"
