I am interested in the genealogy of Daniel Fenton Cleveland, born NY 1809, appaently died December 12, 1901 in Tomah, WI, who married Ann(a) Jane Nelson on October 14, 1831 in Porter, Hebron Township, Washington Co., NY. You descend from Daniel's daughter, Bloomy Jane, born between 1840-1842.

I am researching the line of Daniel's son, Thomas J. Cleveland, born 1842 in IL. He married Sarah __?__ about 1845. Their oldest child was Allen/Allan/Alan Cleveland, born in Wisconsin about 1867. They are in Orange, Juneau Co., Wisconsin, in the 1870 census and in St. Croux Co., Wisconsin, in the 1880 census. They are in Superior, Douglas Co., WA, in the 1910 census. I have not found him in the 1900 census. I would very much like to find out where he was in 1900 and get the information concerning his entire family reported in 1900 census. Do you know this information? Do you have an exact date of birth for Thomas J. Cleveland?

I find Daniel Cleveland and his wife, A. Jane Cleveland, and children in Roscoe, Winnebago Co., IL, in the 1850 census. I find Daniel Cleveland and his wife, Ann Cleveland, and their children in Mill Haven/Lisbon, Juneau Co., WI, in the 1860 census. Daniel Cleveland appears to be listed in Kassan Township, Leelanau Co., MI, in the 1870 census with a female named Olive "keeping house", age 36. I find Ann J. Cleveland listed in the home of Herbert Johnson (wife Bloomy) in Dresbach Township, Winona Co., MN, in the 1870 census. I find Daniel Cleveland, age 60, listed with his wife, Julia Cleveland, and a stepson, Elmer Westbrook, age 15, and his mother-in-law, in Kasson Township, Leelanau Co., MI, in the 1880 census. I am told that Daniel died in 1901 in Tomah, Monroe Co., WI. I have not been able to find Daniel in the 1900 census. Do you know where Daniel Cleveland was living in the 1900 census? Can you give me the census information for his family in the 1900 census?

Can anybody explain what evidence there is to establish the Daniel Cleveland died on December 12, 1901, in Tomah, WI? Does anybody know why Daniel and Ann(a) Jane Cleveland were not living together in the 1870 census and why it appears that Daniel was living with an Olive Cleveland, age 36, who was keeping house for him? Were they divorced and Daniel remarried? Or, was Ann(a) Jane Cleveland simply on a trip to visit the Johnsons when the census taker came by? Who was Olive Cleveland (wife? daughter?)?

Is there any proven indirect connection between this Cleveland family and the ancestors of President Gover Cleveland?
