Swiss Clerc
Posted by: Albert Clerc (ID *****6960) Date: April 01, 2003 at 08:43:23

Hi to the Clerc board. I am Albert Clerc, son of Milton, son of Rene Ferdinand, son of Charles Cesar, son of Claude of Hauteville, Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. I would be interested in correspondence with other descendants of Charles Cesar or of Claude. Charles Cesar emigrated to America after the Revolution of 1848 in France. The Clerc name is probably originally French since there is a French word, 'clerc' meaning cleric or clerk. While some of the Clerks of Scotland emigrated to France at the time of the Reformation, the name no doubt is originally French.
