Hi. my grandmother was MINTA BELLE CLENNEY OF SCOTS HILL TENN. i HAVE NOT WORKED ON THIS LINE IN A NUMBER OF YEARS BUT REMAIN KEEENLY INTERESTED SOME IMPRESSIONS AN INFO FOR YOU ALL THERE ARE A LOT MORE OF YOU THAN I THOUGHT !! ALL THE CLENNEYS I EVER FOUND CAME[RECENTLY ] FROM SCOTS HILL OR EARLY 19TH LATE 18TH CENT. FROM N.C. AT LEST THE ONES IN TEX ,ARK & MO. SO IT WAS INTRESTING TO SEE SOME OTHER BRANCHS AT THE THE TIME I LEFT OFF ON THIS LINE WE WERE LOOKING AT ACONNECTION BETWEEN THE N.C. BEN.& SYNTHIA AN THE GREAT # OF mcclenneys IN THAT AREA /PERIOD ISEE NOW ,BY ACHECK OF THAT WEB SITE THAT DNA SEENS TO HAVE DIABUSED THEM OF ANY BELIEF IN A CONNECTION I FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE TESE DNA TEST WHO WAS TESTED !? HOW MANY AND HOW STRONG WAS THERE DOCUMENTATION OF THRE LINE!!?CAN ANY ONE FILL ME IN ? NEXT ITEM; 10 YEARS OR SO AGO WHEN I STARTED THIS LINE I MADE A FEW TRIPS TO SCOTTS HILL LOTS OF HELP FUL PEOPLE AND SOME GREAT BBQ PORK [BEST I EVER HAD] NOW AT THAT TIME THE PATRIARCH OF THE CLAN WAS A OLD GENTLEMAN OF DRY WIT AND SPRY MIND NAMED PAYTON CLENNEY,I DONT SEE HIS NAME MENTIONED ANY WHERE IN THIS FORUM DID NO ONE ELSE MEET HIM? I FOUND HIM SETTING ON THE SPIT AND WHITTLE BENCH IN FROUNT OF A LITTLE CROSS ROADS STORE IN SCOTTS HILL AND HE TOOK ME ON A WHIRL WIND TOUR OF BACK ROADS & CEM'S BETHEL INCLUDED LATER HE SENT ME A COPY OF "THE HISTORY OF THE CLENNEY FAMILY OF SCOTTS HILL TENN. WHICH WENT BACK TO OLD BEN. AND FORWARD TO MY GRAND MOTHER MITA BELLE WHOSE PARENTS WERE CLENNEYS AND MCCOVILLE/CONVILLES SHE MARRIED GEORGE H. SLATON IN TEX. WHERE ANUMBER OF THE CLENNYS WENT AFTER THE WAR OF NORTHERN AGGRESSION ,EARLY 1870S THEY WENT BACK TO OR STOPPED IN ARK FOR A WHILE TO MAKE A FEW CROPS AS THEY ARE SCATTERED ,ALIVE & DIED ALL THE WAY FROM MT IDA ARK TO TEXRKANA SOUTH AND INTO THE RED RIVER AREA IFOUND GGRANDMA IN A CEM. NORTH OF MT IDA QUITE BY ACCIDENT,WHILE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE!! I HAD THOUGHT HER TOBE RESTING IN A UN MARKED GRAVE NEXT TO HER HUSBAND IN SCOTTS HILL!! SO IF ANY OF YOU ARE MISSING SOME ONE THIS MIGHT BE A FRUITFUL AREA TO CHECK GETTING BACK TO CUZ PAYTONS BOOK I FILED IT AWAY AFTER COPYING OUT THE DATA I NEED AND HAVE MOVED IN THE MEANTIME BUT I AM SURE I MUST STILL HAVE IT SOMEWHERE [JUST WHERE COULD BE A PROBLEM] BUT IF NO ONE ELSE HAS SEEN IT I WILL CONDUCT A FORAGE FOR IT HOW RELIBLE THE INFO IS ? IT SEEMED VERY TO ME AT THE TIM AND IWAS HOPE SOMEONE HAD DONE NEW WORK RECENTLY TO CONFRIM IT. WELL THAT IS IT IN ANUTSHELL IF ANY ON IS WORKING ON MY CLENNEYS OR THINKS THEIR LINE CONNECTS, OR WOULD LIKE TO ORGANIZE THIS FORUM ABIT BETTER IS THERE A MODARATOR ? I DID NOT SEE AHOME PAGE AS SUCH ,WHICH WAS WHAT IWAS HOPEING FOR WITH SOME GENERAL LINES & BRANCHS LAID OUT AND NAMES OF PERSONS RESEARCHING THEM ...LIKE THE MCCLENNYS WHO HAVE DIS OWNED USE FORGIVE THE TYPO'S IT IS FIVE O'CLOCK AND I AM TRYING TO CLOSE UP AND GET OUT OF HERE BUT IFELT IHAD TO GET SOMETHIG IN ...THE LAST TIME A WAS IN SCOTTS HILL ['04] IT HAD CHANGED SOMUCH AND I COULD ONLY FIND A FEW CLENNEYS ANY ONE KNEW AND THEY WERE ALL OFF AT WORK , NO OLD TIMERS NO ONE EVEN KNEW WHAT HAD BECOME OF PAYTON. WELL GOOD LUCK TO ALL LET ME HEAR FROM SOME ONE ,SCOTTS HILL OR OTHERWISE IWOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE THE HUGE WALNUT TREE STOOD IN SCOTTS HIIL THAT MY GRAND MOTHER SPOKE OF IN A LETTER I FOUND AFTER!! I SAW PAYTON FOR THE LAST TIME. GOD BLESS ,PAUL
