CLEMENT, CLEMENTS, CLEMMONS, CLEMONS, CLEMENS Y-DNA TEST PROJECT Group Administrator: Kaye Lanier lkcopelanier@hotmail.com Memo: To all persons researching any of the above surnames or any spelling variation of these surnames. Over the last few months I have received dozens of messages from persons who want to know more about Y-DNA testing, what it costs and how it will help them with their family research. Eleven new participants have joined the project since January 1, 2008. I decided to post a message on the Surname message boards in case there are any Clement, Clements, Clemmons, Clemons, Clemens, etc. researchers out there who haven’t seen our public website at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/ClementsClemmonsDNA/ and would like to learn more about Y-DNA testing. If you are really serious about wanting to find your ancestral family and not have to “guess” whether you have found your true ancestry or not, why not try the our Y-DNA Test. A good paper trail of evidence is really helpful in determining your family history, but it still doesn’t give you the absolute satisfaction of knowing “for sure” if you are correct. A Y-DNA Test can give you that absolute truth for which you are searching. Our Clement Clements Clemmons y-DNA Project began in 2003 and we now have 121 members who have ordered test kits. Of these, 111 have presently been returned for analysis. From these results we have identified 19 different family lines and have 19 members who are still seeking a match to their DNA. In case you are not familiar with what the Y-DNA Test involves, here are some facts that might help you. A genealogical DNA test examines a person's DNA for genetic genealogy purposes. The test results are meant to have no informative medical value and do not determine specific genetic diseases or disorders. They are intended only to give genealogical information. The general procedure for taking a genealogical DNA test involves ordering a DNA Test Kit and taking a painless cheek-scraping at home, then mailing the sample to a genetic genealogy laboratory for testing. A man's paternal ancestry can be traced using the Y-DNA Test. This is useful because the Y chromosome passes from father to son. Women who wish to determine their paternal ancestry can ask their father, brother, paternal uncle, paternal grandfather, or a cousin who shares the same paternal lineage to take a test for them. Have you ever gone to the family history sites on the internet and found your ancestor, but also found that researchers differed as to “who” was the father of your ancestor and also to which Family Line he belonged? To find out for sure, you can order a Test Kit and then wait about six weeks for the results which can tell you for sure if you belong to a particular family line or not. Hopefully, you will find that you are a match with one of the 19 family lines that we have already identified. If not, your time and money will not be wasted because you will still know FOR SURE that your family line is still “out there waiting to be found” and your DNA test result may be the one needed to catch the eye of another Clement Clements Clemmons person who is waiting to find someone in our DNA chart whose ancestor info matches with theirs. You can order a Y-DNA Test Kit directly from our Surname Public website, or you can email me directly and I can place the order for you. We request that each person who orders a Test Kit send information on your earliest proven ancestor to the Project Administrator so that we can post that information along with each Test Kit Number in our DNA RESULTS CHART that is displayed at the end of the Public Website. The cost for each test is listed below: Y-DNA12 (12 marker test for $99) Y-DNA25 (25 marker test for $148) Y-DNA37 (37 marker test for $189) The 12 marker test is best at ruling out relatedness with another participant. The 25 and 37 marker tests are more refined. Whichever you choose now can always be upgraded later for an additional fee as shown below: Y-DNA12-25 for $49 Y-DNA12to37 for $99 Y-DNA25to37 for $49 Y-DNA25to59 for $149 Notify Administrator about this message?
