Not sure from your message, but you might be speaking of this line:

Peter Clemmons b. 1749 m. Comfort Costen
Ezekiel Clemmons b. 1781 m. Phoebe Reed
Andrew Jackson Clemmons b. 1825 m. Nancy Hoover

Notice that A.J.'s marriage is not the one that you speak about. However, A.J.'s mother was daughter of:
George Reed (d. 1815) m. 12 May 1785 Martha Green in Rowan Co., NC. So, AJ may have married a cousin before or after the Hoover marriage.
