Looking for John Edward Clement Info
Posted by: L.M. Lambert Date: January 06, 1999 at 20:22:12
  of 1719

I don't know much about my great- grandfather's family.
He was born JOHN EDWARD CLEMENT around 1870. To my knowledge he had only one sister "Belle" (may have been nickname for Anabelle or other). Aunt Belle had the family bible at the family home in KY (according to my grandmother). I don't know that Aunt Belle ever married....She supposedly lived in a mansion on a river somewhere in the Bowling Green area.
JOHN EDWARD CLEMENT married three times, wife#1 NAME UNKNOWN - one child EDITH CLEMENT HIGGINBOTTOM
wife#2 EULA KING, Burnsville, MS - children JOHN EDWARD, MILDRED, DAISY, KATHERINE (KIT), LORA CLEMENT LAMBERT, WALTER, AND ANN CLEMENT SHOOK.
Wife#3 ELLA?- no children
JOHN EDWARD CLEMENT was a man of many talents. In the late 1800's, he travelled the south as a professional photographer. In the 1920-30's He owned movie theaters in Burnsville, Iuka, Tishomingo and Belmont, Mississippi. He owned a lumber yard and construction company in Belmont, MS which he later gave to his son-in-law DAVID FLAVOUS LAMBER, SR. (my grandfather)
I know that JOHN EDWARD CLEMENT made 4 fortunes in his lifetime....lost three. According to local old-timers, he never failed to pay his debts and was highly regarded in the community.
MY GRANDMOTHER SAID THAT HE LEFT KENTUCKY AS A YOUNG MAN TO SEEK HIS FORTUNE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER.
I BELIEVE HIS PARENTS DIED BEFORE HE LEFT HOME.
ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN OFFER WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
