My Ggrandfather's name was Dr. William Clement Duckworth. His father was Welborn Duckworth and his Mother was Mary Little Duckworth. I have always believed that his middle name, "Clement" must have come from someones maiden name. His mother is the one and only person in any of my lines that I have no information at all. She must have been born in early 1800's, since her husband, my GGgrandfather was born 1803/1804. I have about arrived at the conclusion that she must have been a Clement before she married a Little the first time and then married Welborn Duckworth. I do know that she was his second wife. Their son, my Ggrandfather was born Nov. 14, 1849. I think Welborn was born in Anderson County, SC, but he ended up in Union County, SC and died there. His records are there. Many of the Littles were in Union County, SC also.
I am sure the middle name, Clement, was not just a name they picked out of the blue, and since Mary is the only one that I have no background on, I feel it was connected to her. None of my other lines have a Clement connection, and I have most of them as far back as 1600's.
Does anyone have any light to shed on this?
I would appreciate any info anyone could offer. Thanks!
