I am a Clements descendant who has been searching for 25 or more years for my ancestors. I know that Andrew Clements, b. bef. 1780 S.C. was in Tattnall Co., Ga. before coming into Ala. He had brothers, I think. I can definitely prove to my James E. Clements/Clemons/Clemments b. 1813 Ga. but think that a James who died earlier was the brother of this Andrew. DNA testing has not helped except to eliminate many Virginia lines that I thought that I had. Has a Clements descendant from this Edmond Clements/Clement had the online family tree DNA test? If not, do you know a living male Clement descendant to take the test. Out of more than 80 test results, I only have one good match and that was a descendant of a Isaac RAndolp Clements, b. 1813 ? living in Pulaski Co., Ga. I would appreciate your help and advice. All the good leads I had fell apart with the DNA testing.
Oh, there was a man named Goody Clements who came to Charleston, S.C. before 1770 from Belfast, Ireland (of Scottish descendent). He got a land grant at 4 hole Swamp (near Berkley, the Plat states). I have not been able to find any information on him and he was living right there where the Swamp Fox (Francis Marion) was headquarters in the Amer. Revel. He would have been the right age to have fought in the Amer.Revol. I have searched the Amer.REv. records, he is not there. I have contacted the Berkely Library in S.C. and they can find no mention of a Goody Clements. Have you ever heard of him?
