I'm trying to find a connection between the Clemens/Clemons name and the Hathaway name. My ggggrandfather was John Clemons Hathaway, and several of his descendants were named John Clemens Hathaway, including my great-grandfather. I suspect that Clemens was a family name, perhaps the surname of John Clemons Hathaway's mother. They lived in eastern Pennsylvania. Can any Clemens researcher shed any light on this for me?
