John CLEMENS/CLEMMENS/CLEMENTS & brothers: Ireland>NY>Illinois>Iowa

I am looking for information about my gggrandfather, John Clemens, born in Ireland in about 1826 and emigrated to the US through New York in about 1850. He entered New York with his two brothers, William and James, one of whom worked as a butcher. They may have spelled their name as Clemmens or Clemmons, as well as Clemens.

John Clemens married Hanora Murphy of Kilmalkedar, County Kerry, Ireland, in about 1859. Their son, John, was born in St. Francisville, Illinois, on March 22, 1862, and married Margaret Howley (born in Bloomingdale, Illinois, on Dec. 17, 1861) on Jan. 12, 1885.

If you have any information about John Clemens, his brothers (who may have stayed in New York or moved to Boston), or his son, John, please contact me.

Thanks,

--John M. Clemens
