Corina, Some of my info came from The History of Martha's Vineyard by Charles Banks : The Claghorn Family. It starts with James the Scottish POW sent to New England, onto his son, Shubael 1663, to his son, Shubael 1696, to his son, Shubael, 1725. The 1725 Shubeal married Martha Hillman 1/7/1748 in Chilmark, Ma. They left the Vineyard in 1772 and moved to North Carolina. Also, found some info on ( Marriage records for Shubael and Martha, a listing for a son, Shubael born in Martin, N.C. This Shubael had son, John Thomas.) Has to be yours.
