I too have been to the Vinyard site. My mother and I are stuck with the earliest Cleghorn being John Thomas b. 1789 in North Carolina.
One of John Thomas's children was named Henry Shuble Cleghorn. I find the names "Shubael" and "Shubel" interesting. I'm thinking the families go together but i cant find who John Thomas's father or mother is.
If anyone has any of this information I would greatly appreciate it.
