Thank you for your reply and I realized the reason for the different spelling but have you found anyone in your research with the name spelled Clagg ...in Ala, MS or TX? II find this family name spell this way even though most of the time they didn't read or write. There really are not many Cleggs-Claggs? Where do you think the 'clan' comes from?
There is a Clegg family here in our area of south Texas - of long standing and successful.
