JD,
You have answered my question about how James Cleek was related to his mother-in-law, Margaret Cleek Seavers.
You say that James and Elizabeth (Seavers) Cleek had 12 children.I have the first 8, who appeared in the 1850 census:Martha R. S. Margaret M.J., William M. Mary C., Stephen A., Michael S., Elizabeth S. and James F (T?).Do you have the names of the other four children? There is a file on WorldConnect that lists 9 children, including the 8 named above, plus a Sophia, born 1841.As you can see, Sophia is not with the family in 1850.Did she die young, or is her DoB incorrect, or is her name in error?
As for William Seavers, husband of Margaret (Cleek) Seavers...he apparently died about 1817.He had 5 or 6sons and a daughter between 1794 and 1805 by a former wife, whose name we do not know. Those children are well documented as being in Wythe Co. in 1818.The Margaret Seavers, age 27, who was living with the Michael Darter family next door to Margaret & Nancy in Scott Co, VA 1850 was the granddaughter of William Se(a)vers by his former wife.My husband is the grgrgrgrandson of William Se(a)vers by his firstwife.
