Hi Joan,I believe that John Cleek owned land next to my ancestor John Custer. Recently, I have been looking at Bledsoe and Ashmore ancestors, and have papers everywhere. I have a 6 inch pile of the Custer records, and so it will take a while before I can find the John Cleek document. It is a land deed for John Custer,in Lee county in I think 1796,which he sold in 1801. There is mention of a few names, and I did look them all up, and tried to find all I could. I did come to a conclusion, but nothing definite. I think it was a town named Trading?
John Custer was a Dunkard, which is a religious group of Germans, and so if you can locate any mention of Dunkards,in Lee county, that would be a big step in finding where John Custer is . I will try to find the paper today.
