I need help locating more information on this family. It is my desire to meet living members of this family. I also descend from John G. Gilpin, but through his first wife.

1. Lucy C. Clayton (Evan Benbow1) was born July 23, 1846 in IN and died October 30, 1935 in Sparks, Nevada, buried in Masonic cemetery see obit in notes. She married 1st William Jewell August 6, 1865 in Hamilton Co., IN. She married 2nd John G. (G1) Gilpin 1873 in in the fall of 1873, Hamilton, Co., IN. He was born August 14, 1828 in Montgomery Co., OH and died February 7, 1880 in Carmel, Clay Township, Hamilton Co., IN; Buried in Old Little Eagle Creek cemetery, Carmel, IN., son of Father unknown Gilpin and Mother unknown Gilpin.

Sparks Resident Taken by Death.
A resident of Nevada since 1910, Mrs. Lucy C. Gilpin died early this morning at the home of her son, James W. Gilpin, in Sparks.
She was born in Indiana eighty-nine years ago, and had lived in Sparks for a quarter of a century. Besides her son, a stepson, Joseph M. Gilpin, and a grandaughter, Mrs. Bessie Joplin survive.
Funeral services will be held from Ross-Burke home chapel at two o'clock Friday afternoon with the Rev. G.A. Trusedale in Charge. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery.

Lucy was born Lucy Clayton Daughter of Evan Benbow Clayton and Mary B. Mills. She married William Jewel 06 Aug 1865. 1870 census shows her as Lucy Jewel living with Mother. No husband 1880 shows her as Lucy Gilpin. Her Sister Elizabeth never married so 1920 census is correct.
It appears Lucy last name Jewel was misspelled when she married John G Gilpin

James Wesley Gilpin, formerly of Reno died Tuesday at the Sourthern Pacific Hospital in San Francisco.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilpin will be held Saturday at 3 o'clock from the Ross-Burke company. chapel under the direction of the Masosnic lodge, and burial
will follow in the Masonic section of Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Gilpin retired as a locomotive engineer on February 28, 1939, and moved to North Sacramento four years ago. He was a native of Engletown, Ind., where he was born Sept. 25, 1876.
Mr. Gilpin was the husband of the late Audrey Daisy Gilpin. He is survived by four children. Bessie M. Shaw of North Sacramento and Wesley, Audrey and Loraine Gilpin. One grandchild and two great-grandchildren also survived.
He was a member of Churchill Lodge No. 26, F&AM of Fallon, Reno Consistory, Kerak Temple of the Shrine, and held a lifetime honorary membership in the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Divistion 158.
