George Washington's cobbler?

Oral tradition in my grandmother's line, says that one of my great grandmother's ancestors was a cobbler (boot or shoe maker) to George Washington.

Grandmother's Claypool line is as close as I can get to this family story. Anyone hear of such a family member?

I understand that Elizabeth Claypool & John Osborn bought land from the Fairfax family, a close connection to GW.

Thanks,
Deb
