Hello,
Would like to share info on the family of Sarah CLAYBOURN, b. c1765, resided in Halifax Co., NC then died in Wilkerson Co., GA.
Sarah married Henry COTTON before 1784 and had daughter Elizabeth COTTON before 1785.
Between 1785 & 1790 Sarah married Zadock SIMMONS in Halifax Co., NC. Their son John is mentioned in the will of Sarah's former father-in-law, Joseph COTTON, written in Dec 1794. (Seems unusual!)
Sarah appears in the 1790 federal census with Zadock in Halifax Co., NC and the 1800 federal census with Zadock in Anson Co., NC, but she does not appear with him in 1810. I presume that she died before then?
Is there anyone out there who would like to share more info on this family? Anyone know Sarah's parents/siblings, or have clearer details about her life (or her daughter Elizabeth COTTON)? I have lots to share on some of her descendants through son John F. SIMMONS.
