Genealogy of the Clays, by Mary Rogers Clay, 1899 Filson Club Publications #14, Louisville, KY. This book is a wonderful genealogy tool but should be used as a tool. This book can be found in most large genealogical libraries, in Kentucky, try college or universities and the Kentucky Archives. I also know it is available in the Tennessee Archives.
There are errors as to to the first two or three generations and the book is incomplete. You must remember that the book was published in 1899 and follows only the descendants of John Clay, the immigrant who landed in Jamestown in 1613. The actual proven descendancy begins with Charles Clay and Hannah Wilson. Charles born 1638 died 1886. There are many present day lines of Clays that are not in this book.
