First let me say that I am of African, African-American, and Indian descent so I do not know if any of my information is useful to you.
My paternal grandfather's name was James Henry Clay. I was told that he ran away from a slave plantation in Madison County Virginia when he was 8 yes old. i am not sure of his birth date. But he did marry a Pauline Maize (she was his second wife).
