I'm wondering if anyone can help me sort out my CLAY heritage. There seems to be two very "sharply divided" opinions on Pheobe BELCHER, wife of Mitchell CLAY. I have no documentation, and am not trying to persuade anyone to either side ... just looking for facts to support either one.
I've seen Pheobe was daughter of Francis BELCHER and Phoebe CABANISS. Francis being son of John BELCHER & Mary GOODING; Phoebe CABANISS being daughter of Matthew CABANISS & Hannah CLAY.
I've also seen that Phoebe BELCHER was daughter of Richard BELCHER & Mary Obedience CLAY.

As I said, I have nothing that proves either one, just wanted to plant a feeler for what may be out there to support either philosphy on the lineage.

I'm also curious about wife of William Mitchell CLAY. I've seen Martha Anne LEWIS, daughter of John LEWIS & Elizabeth WARNER; I've seen Ann LEWIS, daughter of John LEWIS; and I've seen Martha RUDYARD.

Does anyone have info to support any of these speculations?
