Clay history (w/Henry the politician)

I wanted to contribute some information I have regarding the Clay family history. The data below has been documented and was placed into the Virginia Archives in 1986:

John Clay - arrived in Charles City, Virginia on the ship Treasurer in February 1613

John Clay's 1st wife Anne arrived on the ship Anne in August 1623

John Clay's 2nd wife was named Elizabeth

Children of John Clay and Elizabeth:
Francis, William, Thomas, *Charles

*Charles Clay - born in 1638 died 1686. He married Hannah Wilson

Children of Charles Clay and Hannah Wilson:
John, **Henry, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Judith

**Henry Clay (1672-1760) married Mary Mitchell (1693-1777) - NOTE: this Henry is the Great Grandfather of Henry the Politician.

Children of Henry Clay and Mary Mitchell:
1) John, 2) Henry, 3) Charles, 4) William, and 5) Elijah

1) John (b. 1718) married Mary Bass - NOTE: John is the grandfather of Henry the Politician.

Children of John Clay (b. 1718) and Mary Bass:
John (b.1741) - he married Elizabeth Hudson - NOTE: these are the parents of Henry the Politician

Children of John Clay (b.1741) and Elizabeth Hudson:
a) Henry Clay (the Politician) - born April 12, 1777 in Virginia
b) Porter Clay

2) Henry (1711-1764) married Lucy Green

3) Charles (1716-1789) married Martha Green (sister of Lucy Green, above)

Children of Charles Clay and Martha Green:
Charles, Henry, ***Eleazar, Thomas, Mathew and Green (General Green Clay of Kentucky)

*** - on a personal note, Eleazer is the line from which I am descended. I incorrectly stated in a previous post that Charles Clay was the brother of the "famous" Henry. It gets a little confusing with all the Henry's and John's out there. If I'm reading this correctly, the Charles Clay I was thinking of was actually the famous Henry's great uncle.

I don't know about all of you, but it makes a lot more sense to me when I actually draw out the tree on a piece of paper. Let's make a pact not to name our children Henry, John, or Charles! Just what we need to make the family tree even more confusing!
