I reviewed my notes from the tax rolls of Washington County, VA, and there is a John Johnston who first appears in 1792, and his estate is paying his tax in 1796. 1795 is illedgable. He could have died leaving a widow, Frances. Shirley, can you tell me where Jeremiah Walker Clay was prior to coming to Washington County? I don't think he came straight from Chesterfield County. Was it Dinwiddie?
