According to the History of the Middle New River by David Johnston (p. 380), my Isham Belcher was the nephew of Phoebe Clay, the wife of Mitchell Clay, the elder. That would make his father either Isham Belcher or Richard Belcher.

There seems to a separation into people who believe Phoebe's parents were Richard Belcher and Mary Obedience Clay and those who think it's Francis Belcher and Phoebe Cabaniss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
