I'm beginning to hunt for Clay ancestry verification. Some information, I know, came from Elizabeth Ellington of Carlisle, KY, a cousin sharing the same grandfather as my mother. (I located her in 1986) She sent me imformation compiled by Elizabeth Staples of Shelbyville, KY and mailed to her in 1964. This traces back to John Claye, a British Grenadier during Bacon's Rebellion (1663-1676) under the reign of Charles II. He arrived in 1613 according to her--1st wife, Ann, in 1623. This sounds like the right names and dates. I would love to know more about the family that is meeting in Williamsburg (an appropriate place!) as I think we may be a part of it. Has Robert Clay written his Clay Research for sale or sharing?
