Hope it is not too late to try to get this straightened out. Yes Martha Runyan married a William M. (Mitchell?) however this William M. was the son of Bartley Clay and the marriage was in 1827. I made the same mistake, and was told by a researcher, and this has been verified by others, including Robert Young Clay, an archivist at the Virginia Archives, that William Mitchell's wife was a Martha, maiden name unknown. Since the William M. and Martha Runyan is not my direct line, I have not looked up the marriage bonds.
