Mitchell and Phoebes children: Bartley,Tabitha,and Ezekiel were killed by Indians. The men were gone. Indians attacked. Tabitha fought as hard as the boys. They killed bartley, kidnaped Tabitha and Ezekiel. she was killed in Bluestone Co. W.V. bartley was burned at stake in Chillecothe,Ohio. When the Clay men came home they hunted the Indians down, killed them and made razor straps out of their hides.
Bartley was 19 years old when he was killed.
Ezekiel was 17 yrs. old and Tabitha was 15.
Other children were: William, Rebecca, Naomi (Nannie), Patience, Obedience, Sarah(Sallie), Mary, Henry J., Charles L., David and Mitchell. This info came from a book written by the Harden family of Wilkinson County Georgia. Eve Harden married David Clay.
Some of the records on this family is also in the Mercer Co. Va. History Book.
