Trying to expand info up and down on Clay family from down Maine.
John Clay of Lincoln ME married Hannah Whitney of Canada. She and he may have both come from Canada. I have found a Hannah Whitney in Lincoln,ME 1830 Census.
Joel S. Clay born Mar30,1854 in Lincoln. Married Laura Williams of Haire France in Brewer,ME Oct21,1901.Son Linwood S. Clay born Feb2,1902 in Brewer.Joel had two previous marriages but I have no info. At this time John id dead but Hannah living with son David in Somersworth,NH. Joel moved to Berwick,ME abt 1914 and died there June1,1917.Linwood married Doris A. Moulton of Berwick,ME born Dec25,1907.Linwood SR. died Mar1983 in LosAngeles.Linwood S.Clay born Oct27,1922 in Berwick,ME died Jun7,1997 Heverhill,MA.Carlton Bernard Clay born June 24,1924 Berwick. No other info. William E. Clay born Sept26,1927 Berwick ME. no other info.
John and Hannah may have had also a duaghter Myrtle who married a Worthington and they lived in ME also.
David Wentworth Clay born Jan17,1861 in ?? Greenbush/Bucksport/Bangor ME. Married Lillian Bell Hobbs born of South Berwick,ME feb17,1886 in Somerworth NH.They lived in Somersworth until house was lost in depression and he was too sick from cancer to work.He died in Derry,NH Aug.10,1931 of starvation. She lived on until 1951.Both are buried in Somersworth,NH at Pine Hill. They had two children that I know of.
Frances Clay was born May10,1891 in Somersworth. She married Peter Provencher of Berwick,ME and they had daughter Winnie?.Then she remarried to a Tibbetts also of Berwick and thay all disappeared.
Charles William Clay born Jan1,1894 in Berwick,ME.He had relatives down ME that he visited. He was shell shocked in WWI service and was never a responsible person after that.He married ever so breifly to Josephine A.Hinton of Etna,ME or thereabouts. A daughter was born Jan27,1920 in Commanche, Iowa. Charlie dissappered before that and didn't reveal himself to her for 17 years. He died in NH Feb 1980. The daughter is my mother and I have detailed info of gens from her down.
That is all I know so far which isn't bad since I only started with Charlies name and that he was born in Berwick,ME.
