Jonas CLAY of Wells Maine

Jonas Clay, said to be from Ipswich England or Derbyshire, died in Wells Maine in 1660. His wife was Mary Batson, daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth Batson, of Saco Maine. Jonas and Mary had one son that is known:

Jonas Clay Jr, b.c. 1656 Wells Maine, d. 9 Nov 1704 Boston MA. He was a mariner and married at Salem MA on 22 Oct 1678 to Mary Allen of Boston, daughter of Hope and Rachel Allen. They had 8 children:

1. Mary Clay, b. 27 Apr 1680 Boston MA.

2. Rachel Clay I, b. 3 Oct 1683 Boston MA, d.y.

3. Rachel Clay II, b. 28 Jan 1688 Boston MA, m. Amos Murrel 8 May 1707 Boston MA.

4. Jonas Clay III, b. 29 Dec 1690 Boston MA, d. 1747 Chester MA, m. Millison Kingsbury 18 May 1714 Boston MA, had 9 ch.

5. Stephen Clay, b. 16 May 1694 Boston MA, m. Mary Allen 27 Sep 1717 Boston MA.

6. Elizabeth Clay, b. 12 May 1696 Boston MA, d. 7 Apr 1775 Holliston MA, m. (1) Samuel Haley 14 Nov 1717 Boston MA, had 14 ch., m.(2) Deacon Henry Prentice 8 Nov 1749 Boston, no ch.

7. Hannah Clay, b. 28 May 1698 Boston MA, m. John Wharfe 25 Feb 1718 Boston MA.

Has anyone been able to make a connection of these Clay families back to the home village in England?
