James Clay Cabarrus County, NC

Looking to find the source of the information in the "1443 The Colonial Clay's of Virginia and some of their Descendants 1943" chart compiled in 1943 by Clifford Charles Clay about James Clay's family.

This James Clay is in the 1800 census for Cabarrus County, NC as well as Isham and Dennis Clay that are believed to be his brothers. Based on his son and his son's family on the Clifford Charles Chart I am certain he is the James C. Clay on row 7 Col 19 of the chart. Coming from Charles Clay with wife Hannah Wilson you have the following line on the chart (the number beside them are the column number for the following row on the chart which is their family):

Charles Clay and Hannah Wilson
Charles 1675-1764
Thomas 8 1713-1787
Thomas (19) Born 1738 migratred to Chatham County, NC Four others
James C. 29 Two others
John C. 56 and others

This John C. Clay is John Charles Clay that was in the War of 1812 in Cabarrus County, NC and moved to Cobb County, GA. His Children are on the Chart as well as some of their descendants.

I am sure of the information on Clifford Charles Clay's chart from James down but I do not agree with Thomas as his father. If anyone has the source of this to confirm or refute the Chart I would love to hear from you.
